Industrial headsets and breakaway connector help keep workers and equipment safe
In a noisy DC, headsets that cancel out background noise are absolutely essential. Thus SR-Series Speech Recognition headsets are the only headsets supported with Vocollect Voice Models are available with either a consumer-grade audio jack or with Vocollect's patented industrial-grade breakaway connector, which attaches to the Symbol mobile computer via an adapter. Symbol has approved the use of this adapter with the MC9060 mobile computing platform in order for customers to benefit from the break-away connector.
To enable the Symbol MC9060 mobile computer to take advantage of the long life, durability, and ruggedness of the breakaway connector (thereby minimizing repair and downtime headaches for customers) Vocollect created an adapter to enable the connector to work with the Symbol mobile computer. This adapter mounts over the audio jack port, and is secured with industrial-grade adhesive.
The industrial-grade breakaway connector was designed to withstand the hazards found in a typical industrial environment. In the event the cable is subject to unusual strain, the breakaway connector separates cleanly from the device to which it is attached. The consumer-grade audio jack was not designed to withstand the rigors of industrial applications. The consumer-grade audio jack can easily break off, leaving the jack inside the MC9060 unit, resulting in downtime and potentially expensive repair for the customer. Thus, the breakaway connector is the best choice for industrial environments. Because application requirements vary greatly, there are five SR-Series models featuring the break-away connector.
